Reiter ’ s Polaron Wavefunction Applied to a t 2 g Orbital t – J Model

چکیده
Using the self-consistent Born approximation we calculate Reiter’s wavefunction for a single hole introduced into the undoped and orbitally ordered ground state of the t–J model with t2g orbital degrees of freedom. While the number of excitations is similar to the spin t-J model for a given J/t, a distinct structure of the calculated wavefunction and its momentum dependence is identified suggesting the formation of a novel type of mobile polarons.

Bias-Induced Optical Absorption of Current Carrying Two-Orbital Quantum Dot with Strong Electron-Phonon Interaction (Polaron Regime)
The one photon absorption (OPA) cross section of a current carrying two-orbital quantum dot (QD) with strong electron-phonon interaction (polaron regime) is considered. Using the self-consistent non-equilibrium Hartree-Fock (HF) approximation, we determine the dependence of OPA cross section on the applied bias voltage, the strength of effective electron-electron interaction, and level spacing ...
متن کاملMapping the orbital wavefunction of the surface states in three-dimensional topological insulators
Understanding the structure of the wavefunction is essential for depicting the surface states of a topological insulator. Owing to the inherent strong spin–orbit coupling, the conventional hand-waving picture of the Dirac surface state with a single chiral spin texture is incomplete, as this ignores the orbital components of the Dirac wavefunction and their coupling to the spin textures. Here, ...
متن کاملPolaron melting and ordering as key mechanisms for colossal resistance effects in manganites.
Polarons, the combined motion of electrons in a cloth of their lattice distortions, are a key transport feature in doped manganites. To develop a profound understanding of the colossal resistance effects induced by external fields, the study of polaron correlations and the resulting collective polaron behavior, i.e., polaron ordering and transition from polaronic transport to metallic transport...
متن کاملGlass transition in the polaron dynamics of colossal magnetoresistive manganites.
Neutron scattering measurements on a bilayer manganite near optimal doping show that the short-range polaron correlations are completely dynamic at high T, but then freeze upon cooling to a temperature T(*) approximately equal 310 K. This glass transition suggests that the paramagnetic/insulating state arises from an inherent orbital frustration that inhibits the formation of a long-range orbit...
متن کاملPolaron in the t-J Models with Three-Site Terms: the SU(2) and the Ising Cases
We compare the role of the three-site terms added to the t-J models in the SU(2) and the Ising cases in the extremely low doping regime, i.e. when a single hole added to the strongly interacting half-filled system becomes a polaron. We show that in the realistic Ising case the threesite terms play a vital role in the polaron movement and should never be neglected unlike in the SU(2) case.
